About the Artist – Virendra Rawat

Artistic ventures have always been a passion with him – Be it making Sculptures, Toying with Wood to produce an Art Form or Painting in Oil or Paper. Over the 35 years of his career in the Indian Army, his love for painting got relegated to more or less a hobby. Though during his stay in the Army, he painted over 400 Portraits besides a number of Theme Paintings to the entire satisfaction of the clients, now post retirement, Virendra Rawat decided to take it up as a full time profession. The aim is not to make just money but to fruitfully pursue his passion. Hence, the costs may not reflect the true value of the paintings.

Paper Collage Art & Paintings

A unique Art style that the artist has mastered over the years, “Paper Collage” – stretches beyond the traditional art mediums as it uses paper as a medium to produce the final work. “Paper Collage“, as the name indicates is essentially a collage of thousands of bits of paper that are stuck together to form shapes, forms, faces. You may view in the gallery the Paper Collage works and it will amaze you to know that each portrait is made only of paper – the expressions, the effect, the depth is a result of using tiny bits of paper of different shades, colors, textures. Each tiny bit of high quality paper is carefully selected by Col. Rawat to ensure that it gives the desired effect. What started as an experiment 35 years ago became a full-fledged passion as time progressed and finesse attained. Though the artist has produced various impressive Paper Collage art work, his primary focus has been on Paper Collage Portraits. Over the last few decades, he has made portraits of many a public figure such as Indira Gandhi, Raj Kapoor, Amitabh Bachchan, Lata Mangeshkar, Rusy Modi – works that adorn their private spaces.

Acceptance of Orders

• The orders will be accepted for execution on realisation of 30% of cost of the work.
• 4 to 6 weeks to complete the work (** Time can not be reduced keeping in view of the quality of the art work)
