CoronaVirus Lockdown 2020 – How Far India Is From Ending It ?

Lockdown in India was announced to prevent the spread of Corona Virus Spread, or more precisely to say – To flatten the graph of contamination so that the country could be equipped with the gap in healthcare and medical facility. Initial announcement came in March and during April it was further extended till 3rd May 2020 as Lockdown 2. Now the question is whether the Lockdown 2 will end or it will be further extended as the Lockdown 3.

The answer lies in the fact – Purpose of Lockdown, it is clear and evident fact that the Corona Virus infection spreads when an infected person comes into contact with others, with yet another possibility that the infected person may also be asymptomatic. Covid-19 positive cases which were asymptomatic had been recently reported in several countries along with India as well. These positive carriers of Corona Virus are the biggest threat and challenge to tackle as they don’t come up with any symptom but still are the active carrier of Coronavirus Infection.

with approximately 20,000 + active cases of Covid-19 in India as on 22nd April, the situation although is in control but even in best case scenerio we can’t expect the Lockdwon to get over with. Although the Lockdown is having negative impact on Economy and with its further extension, several other challenges will arise but there is no choice. If in the current scenerio, we have to quickly check and control the spread of COVID-19 infection, the Lockdown must go until 30th May (Personal Opinion), with strict restrictions in Hot-Spots and Red Zones while some relaxations in other areas. Also we must keep a proper check on recovered patients, as its also not fully established that patients recovered from COVID Infection will develop the immunity for further chances of contamination or are in processes of developing herd immunity or not.

“The epidemic in each country won’t go on forever, it will burn itself out. Countries are doing the right thing to control the outbreak. If the lockdown is successful in India, you could see a decline in the epidemic around the end of a 10-week time course,” Richard Horton, editor-in-chief of leading Health Journal “The Lancet”
